Penny Wars
I am always looking for easy and efficient ways for fundraising. This year, I ran a Penny War between high school classes to raise money for our troops at Christmas. We decided to call this fundraiser "Pennies for Patriots" and put collection jars in each first hour teachers classroom. We ran the fundraiser for a few months and challenged each class to bring in the most pennies. My students made signs that went throughout the school and also had it announced each day as a reminder in the daily announcements.
We raised about $190 just in pennies during this time. I will tell you to make sure and have a place that you can bring pennies back and expect to take at least a few hours if you are using a change collecting machine. (It took me about 4 hours!) Overall though it was an easy fundraiser for a good cause and people are always willing to give up loose change!
